[AfricaWatch] The Clarion Vision: Harnessing the Civic Power Continental Africa Diaspora
Dear Friends,
It is an incredible journey to have been invited to be a part of this Diaspora push and to have gotten these emails all of this time from many of you. I am extremely passionate about all of it!
I have to say that collaboration is key and Binta and I know all too well how this is true and
the importance of in earnest support given and received while keeping the cycle of freedom and life in the higher ebb and flow of it's Godly origin or you could say the give and take in a constant healthy cycle.
My name is Dr. Brook Bello and I and the founder of More Too Life. My center is in a very segregated city of Sarasota, Florida. Many of my clients are (80%) are African American and plagued with issues of Human Trafficking, rape, incest, molestation and more. I am as well a Survivor who became a film-maker and author as well as an ordained pastor. Our org once sent a staff member to South Africa simply to work and care and teach children. In addition, my documentary film shot in the Middle East I met many African brothers and sisters working in Dubai and all over the U.A.E and Kingdom of Bahrain and more from Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, and many other countries of Africa that I was able to love on and speak to about dreams, education, human trafficking, family and what they felt true freedom really was and how to grasp for it and fight for it with every breath and to live a life of wholeness, somehow, along the way.
As racial tensions in the USA are rising and the high rate of trafficking in persons being girls and women of color with often an African American male as the trafficker that sales to someone of non-African origin, we have so much work to do as men are the answer to the problem and we at More Too Life mentor male youth 10-26 in hopes that they discover how beautiful and powerful they are (90% African American Male youth). I am in DC this week as with every month for a while as a Master Series for Distinguished Leader Fellow with the Skinner Institute. We are 17 fellows this year all of us, African or African American, whilst we learn and have our already leadership skills come to another level; "Promise Driven."
Anyway, I invite you to look at my site and view what we do so that we can serve one another in the fight. I am also looking to take a few victims/survivors to Africa to be educated on the vast knowledge of our origin while they free their minds and thus hearts along the journey. We look to volunteer at a school or orphanage, or wherever is needed to be a blessing and to be blessed. This exchange is a cultural immersion and both sides will benefit as there is nothing more powerful that the insight and education learned in human exchange. None the less, I would love to add you to our newsletter as well and so will send and If you do not want to receive it every quarter simply unsubscribe, but if you do just knowing we have your prayers is a huge blessing. I am in DC tomorrow through Friday. In In VA 25 an 26th and NYC, doing an ABC television event on my new book April 1-5th, just in case something is happening in that time frame I can attend, support and get the word out. I can be reached at the info below. Onward and Upward...

Dear Community Leaders & Members of the Continental African Community;
Dear Friends of Africa:
Our population is growing in the United States with the potentials, like the Hispanic, Asian and Jewish communities, to become an empowered community.
Your presence and participation in the LEGACY program on March 29, 2014 will enable Community Collaboration for Empowerment.
The multi-sector and interactive program is complementary: It highlights the inter-connected systems of a vibrant and vital community: economic, social, cultural and civic, including special segments on youth and women.
You can get more details on the goals and rationales:
The Civic Empowerment Segment with Rev. Dr. Sylvester Okere will address the census, data and their implications on resource allocations; civic engagement that fosters the ability of the community to influence public processes in order to achieve outcomes at local, state and federal levels; immigration updates; the 2014 elections and impacts on issues that affect the community; services for community residents; community collaboration and advocacy for impacts.These are among the burning quality of life issues and we encourage spotlight on other issues.
Every new and emerging population in the US had to leverage its collective power to become reckoning community. You have the ability to make the difference and no effort is too small for the change.
Therefore, let us work together, complementing efforts to build a sustainable community.
Everyone Counts.
